Trafficking

Timeline: June 5th, 2008

Ann-Marie had been away for a while, out to see an old friend in Albany, and of course her adventure with Lyla had been completed a month earlier. Ann had been satisfied to know, despite a dramatic ending to the trip, that there were no other vampires that she could find in the whole of northern New Hampshire. Now, after a further grueling ordeal waiting for her in Albany, Ann-Marie was recovered and empowered, ready to plan for the future.

This put her on a path to find Lyla. In many ways one of her most important contacts, Ann-Marie had discovered the young woman had some surprising contacts and far-reaching influence that were not immediately obvious. In time, however, she had learned that if she needed something to be acquired under the radar, Lyla was her girl.

Charlie’s Trials

June 21st, 2008

It had been a week now since Charlie experienced his first change and met his new group of friends. Foremost among them was Cerai. She’d discovered him and had protected him his first, frightening, confusing night as a werewolf. She also had come by several times over the past week to help coach him in mastering his new forms.

He’d only been Uratha for a week, that was true. But Cerai knew that the sooner he was able to establish himself, then the sooner the pack could work as one to track down a Totem spirit for the pack. And that would in turn bind them all together and make them all stronger. And that was very important because the pack had chosen a vast territory. The sooner they were really strong enough to hold onto it the better!

New Friends

June 15th, 2008

Charlie, dazed by all the new information elected to go home, think on things and contact the others later. They’d all been through this before and they knew that this was really overwhelming. He needed time and if they crowded him, they would only succeed in driving him away. So a cab was called and Charlie returned to his condo.

Odin, too, having little to no overnight supplies handy, elected to return to his house. He was planning on purchasing a new one and selling his old place as soon as he could as it was never a wise practice for the alpha to leave his new territory undefended. They bid him good night and expected to see him later that morning.

Lessons 2

Timeline: May 5th, 2008

Ann-Marie had returned to the hotel. The events of the night and the wounds suffered by her friends concerned her. This ‘wound’ she knew little about, though she wished to stand by Lyla and Chaska despite the risks. Michael’s games considering the situation seemed childish to her, she thought. More dangerously, his dabbling with death and a vampiric demeanor could have made her snap and kill him. He and Ramiel so underestimated her, and she to be honest, thought them arrogant. Despite that, there must be more to them both, something the Lyla and the others saw in them. She wanted to like them both. She had made progress she believed with Ramiel, but still he….’Damn it‘, she thought. ‘Too much going on, I need rest.

She entered the room, her eyes coursing with thoughts as she saw Jesse waiting. She looked up to her and said, “It’s been one hell of a night.”

Rounds for Rey

Timeline: Mid-May, 2008

Michael heard the chime of the door to his shop opening. When he looked to see who it was, to his surprise he saw Rey. Michael set down the Colt 1911A1 .45 pistol he was cleaning, and approached the conter to see what Rey needed.

“I’m a little curious to see you here,” Michael began. “So what can I do for you today? Looking for something for personal protection?”

“Hey, Michael,” Rey said with a smile. “Actually, I’m looking for ammo for a Winchester Super X rifle. Nothing fancy, just regular load.”

“I’m impressed, I didn’t realize you owned a gun, much less went hunting,” Michael said. “Ok, sharpshooter, what caliber is your Winchester? So I can get you the right ammo.”

Odin and Blood Fang had been a real mess after their fight. Shayd had offered sexual favors as recompense for the trouble she caused, and had been refused and mildly reprimanded by Odin. Both Fang and he had explained in clear terms that it was too dangerous to allow a physical relationship to develop between them.

However, Odin also said he did welcome contact between them. They were human, yes, but also wolf and physical contact was an important and healthy part of their pack relationship. So, Shayd had instead helped them get cleaned up, dress their wounds, wash their bloodied clothing and generally simply share her space at her apartment with them. No words were exchanged during this time — they found they didn’t need them. Allowing instinct to guide them but not drive them as poor Blood Fang often felt pulled to do, they discovered they could touch without having to take things to a sexual level. Or rather, at least Odin and Shayd did. If Odin and Fang formed the original core of the developing pack, Shayd was rapidly becoming the glue that held them together.

Choices

Timeline: May 5th, 2008

Lyla and Chaska walked briskly back to the motel. They knew there wasn’t any immediate danger but it did not stop the anxiety that both of them were experiencing.

Chaska turned to Lyla while they walked. “So are we going to have to try and kill them or do we run when this is all done?”

“Our chances are very slim, if we try to defeat them. I think we should try to do this job and present our problem to the mages. They may know another way for us to escape,” Lyla said.

The Enemy

June 14th, 2008

Shayd, Blood Fang, and Odin spent hours and hours in the wee hours of June 14th after the bars closed looking around and identifying what they’d like to claim as their territory. After discovering some signs of other neighboring packs, the trio discovered there was still a huge swatch of unclaimed territory they could make their own.

To do that, of course, they would need a symbol as none of them really relished the idea of trying mark every block with scent. Their neighbors had instead used graffiti to mark old buildings, telephone poles, sidewalks and whatever other permanent fixtures were handy to indicate the boundary of their territory. It seemed like a good idea, so the three put their heads together and after rejecting some early ideas, settled upon a symbol that had an eye with three thunderbolts across it. They went and purchased spray paint from a Wal-Mart and went to work.

Gathering Intel

Timeline: May 1st, 2008 (the day before the Beltane rituals)

Rey came to a halt near the center of town, and leaned forward with her hands on her knees to catch her breath. She’d finished the first leg of her daily run and had been trying to go a bit faster, but she discovered she wasn’t up to it quite yet. Breathing hard, she squatted down to retie her shoe.

Small bells jingled nearby. Turning to see, she saw the door to the small grocery store closing behind Jesse. She was carrying a large brown paper grocery bag filled with various goods. As she stepped out onto the sidewalk, Jesse smiled and nodded to Rey. “Good morning, Rey.” Jesse always had that sense of sadness about her, even when she smiled. Despite the bright new morning, this is one thing that apparently didn’t change.

“Morning, Jesse. How are you this morning?” Rey asked, tugging down her cropped off shirt that had ridden up.

A Joke Too Far

Timeline: May 4th, 2008

Ramiel had seen his friend die before him. It had happened so fast he wasn’t even sure it had happened. He thought that he had been able to free Michael form the undead hell hound before that much damage had been done.

John had wanted to kill him thinking that he had been turned. “It happens in the movies.” HE said as warning to Ramiel when he refused to let John finish the job.

There had to be another reason, he kept telling himself. He decayed so fast, surely, please let there be another reason. He hefted his friend over his shoulder hoping that John was wrong and Michael was not going to take a chunk out of him.

Then it happened. He bit. Damn it all to Hell. Was all he could think as he dropped Michael, then seeing that color had returned to him he knew. Michael had done something to himslef and the playful little bite was ….what?
