Epilogue Session 2

Overview

It is the fourth evening in Uzec and the last banquet, the great formal banquet held by Baron Roland d’Uzec has begun. It has been a great three-day festival and the people are in a great mood – many are quite drunk. Emmeline, the Queen of Love and Beauty, takes her place at the Baron’s left side, with the List Champion (Lance Lieutenant Mikaela Brunét) on one side of the couple near Emmeline, and the Melée Champion Sir Kentigern d’Adera of House Auvrey at the other side near the Baron. A Talk with Friends

Emmeline had wandered off to engage in conversation with some of the villagers, when she returned, she greeted Typhon Né and Elomix with a wave.

“Hey you two. I just finished speaking with some of the good folks we rescued and I picked up some pretty important information. I thought I’d pass it on to you in case you wanted to check it out. It’s on the way to Thalassa anyway, it would seem. Continue reading “A Talk with Friends”

Conversations with Villagers

Still curious about the attacks by the goblins, Emmeline approached a villager. Sometimes, she knew, common folk knew a lot more than those in charge simply because it can be hard to approach an authority figure like a noble.

“Hi there,” she said to someone she recognized as having been saved from the slave pens by her companions and herself. “Have you a moment to speak with me about those goblins?”

The young woman looked up. Clearly recognizing Emmeline, she nodded.

Epilogue Session 1

Overview

The hamlet of Branmarc and the village of Normarc are free of the goblins. The remaining goblin brute who escaped the caves was cut down by the villagers. No enemy survived, as Typhon Kné dispatched the polymorphed ewe that was the goblin shaman. Similarly a priestess of Tyaa was slain in their company. Searching the Tyaa priestess’s body reveals 20 gp, and a note written in Old Common script, but the letter order seems non-sensical. It could be a simple cypher of some kind. She also had a silver dagger, and a blackened metal raven-clasp.

The Derrien Conclave of 447 (Part 1)

A cold October rain fell hard on Derrienport. The trip had been miserable, but finally he was almost there. While he was certain he was being watched, Elemix had not been attacked. Travelling with the Baron’s patrols and attaching himself to larger caravans had helped that he thought, but with fall ending and winter approaching, ...

Winter Is Coming

Lady Rivanon had asked Emmeline to delay departing even further than the two days the Baron wished, and after some discussion Emmeline had agreed. Something political was going on behind the scenes with Rivanon darting around the countryside back and forth to Derrien. Emmeline knew of a bit of it with her conversations with the ...

A Visitor and a Friend

The Uzec Temple was small, but beautiful. The High Priestess with the Baron and other locals support were doing their best to upgrade it and the local shrines as well. From Friendship to Courtship

At Uzec’s Temple of Aarith, Jocelyn and Typhon (Tiffanie) walked together in the garden. The trees leaves were brilliantly colored and the air nice and cool. Taking a bench together, Jocelyn looked at Typhon and said, “my friend, I believe an act of evil, hatred toward someone long, long gone has rebounded into an accidental ...

Alms for Arresey

Emmeline had ridden out from Uzec shortly after the hobgoblin attack upon the hamlet of Arresey, not so far south of her own Cerisey. Baron had bid her help them rebuild by fairly distributing coin after the destructive raid had ruined much and slain five villagers as well. Each family would have enough to buy ...

A Temptation

As Emmeline slept, a voice entered her dreams. It was similar to Mara, but not quite. “Twice you have sought us. Twice have we been of use to you,” the voice said. “Let us help you a third time so you may learn the true secrets. We offer them freely, just choose what you wish ...

The Wizards Tower

Two days after meeting with the Baron (See “Elemix Meets with the Baron Thread”), at the appointed time, Elemix met Master Stonesplitter. A tough old dwarf, he greeted Elemix at the city stables where they met. Elemix had the keys the Marshall gave him. “You are the Magus, Elemix Dungaroon?” said the dwarf with a cheerful ...

Letter to the group from Elemix

To: Lady Rivanon De Uzec, Witch Emmiline De Cerecy, & Sister Tifane of the Order of the Just. I have been called to a Wizards Conclave in Derrian. It will likely take the better part of a week. As such, I do not wish to hold up your travels. Please proceed on to Portreaux and I ...

Soul Searching

The Near Now

Supper had consisted of a brief, quiet meal provided by the local greasy spoon and packaged in a brown paper to-go bag. Afterwards, everyone found themselves extremely tired. Their investigation into the secondary facility and subsequent escape from the complex had happened over the previous night, and then they’d spent the day fleeing through endless forest until they found the small town of Concrete. It had been two hard days since anyone had a full night’s rest and now with full bellies, sleep was a priority. Continue reading “Soul Searching”

The Debate

Two Years Ago…

Director Leddow looked up from his PDA and closed the cover. He looked around the long, black polished table at the gathered scientists and security specialists. There were ten research scientists that worked on the report he’d just referenced, though only the most important scientists had been invited to meet with him today. It would do. The non-research present scientists included teachers, psychologists, and trainers — all people that worked directly with the test subjects. Continue reading “The Debate”
