Epilogue Session 2

Overview

It is the fourth evening in Uzec and the last banquet, the great formal banquet held by Baron Roland d’Uzec has begun. It has been a great three-day festival and the people are in a great mood – many are quite drunk. Emmeline, the Queen of Love and Beauty, takes her place at the Baron’s left side, with the List Champion (Lance Lieutenant Mikaela Brunét) on one side of the couple near Emmeline, and the Melée Champion Sir Kentigern d’Adera of House Auvrey at the other side near the Baron. A Talk with Friends

Emmeline had wandered off to engage in conversation with some of the villagers, when she returned, she greeted Typhon Né and Elomix with a wave.

“Hey you two. I just finished speaking with some of the good folks we rescued and I picked up some pretty important information. I thought I’d pass it on to you in case you wanted to check it out. It’s on the way to Thalassa anyway, it would seem. Continue reading “A Talk with Friends”

Conversations with Villagers

Still curious about the attacks by the goblins, Emmeline approached a villager. Sometimes, she knew, common folk knew a lot more than those in charge simply because it can be hard to approach an authority figure like a noble.

“Hi there,” she said to someone she recognized as having been saved from the slave pens by her companions and herself. “Have you a moment to speak with me about those goblins?”

The young woman looked up. Clearly recognizing Emmeline, she nodded.

Epilogue Session 1

Overview

The hamlet of Branmarc and the village of Normarc are free of the goblins. The remaining goblin brute who escaped the caves was cut down by the villagers. No enemy survived, as Typhon Kné dispatched the polymorphed ewe that was the goblin shaman. Similarly a priestess of Tyaa was slain in their company. Searching the Tyaa priestess’s body reveals 20 gp, and a note written in Old Common script, but the letter order seems non-sensical. It could be a simple cypher of some kind. She also had a silver dagger, and a blackened metal raven-clasp.

Dreams of the Future

It was a quiet night in the Port of Derrien where Emmeline was staying. Her visit for the day was complete and tomorrow she could spend some of her free time looking for the supplies Zoe had recommended she collect for her own health. Tonight she’d sung only a few quiet songs and treated the ...

Twin Destinies

Emmeline lay awake in the dark of night before the coming dawn. She knew it was very late and tonight something was happening to her that had never happened before. Was it her continuing closeness to a Fey Lady that made her so hyper-aware of life right now? But it was more than that. The warm, ...

Derrien Purchases

As Emmeline, Typhon, and Renée approached Derrien, a familiar messenger on horseback rode up to them. “Witch de Cerisey, Justicar de Snowmoria, and Mademoiselle du Triel, I bring you a message from the Magus Alix, Wizard’s Tribune of the North,” announced the redcap Giselle Aubrey-Alix. Emmeline looked at her friends in mild surprise, then nodded to ...

Message for the Herald

Emmeline and friends had ridden hard to Primel and the horses needed rest. And realistically, so did they. They had a long way to go yet to Derrien and it wouldn’t be any easier. Her friends had been good enough to stick with her on the ride home — at least for a while. She appreciated ...

A Night of the Waiting Terror

The swamp drake had disgorged a noxious fume that brought all caught within down low. It flew by and sounds could be heard of it moving far into the woods but not attacking. Everyone had moved into the cave. Marc and Gilles, the surviving soldiers, along with anyone else who had volunteered, threw the ogres ...

At the Vale

Emmeline, after some thought, decided to go to the Vale alone on a night that kept the Baron busy with court business. She told him what she wanted to do, and of course he pointed out it was too dangerous to do that alone when hags were about and likely waiting for an opportunity to ...

Aftermath – Nemesis or Friend

Patrols led by Captain du Triel, his daughter and others had departed to reconnoiter what happened to the goblins and their allies. In that time Elemix, Emmeline and Tiffanie had returned with Rivanon to Uzec along with three goblin prisoners the ...

Silverleaf Visits

A temple acolyte entered the prayer hall where the wounded from the fighting up near Calder Keep were gathered. “Sister Typhon Né, there is an elf, yes I’m certain it is an elf, that is here to talk to you. He says his name is Remy Silverleaf and he said it was important.” “I know him,” ...

Sevé Did a Bad Thing

The night of the visit to the Vale, Sevé, who had been out of sight out of mind for Emmeline, appeared. She looked despondent and went to a branch of a nearby tree and sat with a ‘hrumpf’. “Sevé?” Emmeline prodded, “Is something wrong?” She turned to face the tiny fey spirit. “Seve tried to help the ...

Soul Searching

The Near Now

Supper had consisted of a brief, quiet meal provided by the local greasy spoon and packaged in a brown paper to-go bag. Afterwards, everyone found themselves extremely tired. Their investigation into the secondary facility and subsequent escape from the complex had happened over the previous night, and then they’d spent the day fleeing through endless forest until they found the small town of Concrete. It had been two hard days since anyone had a full night’s rest and now with full bellies, sleep was a priority. Continue reading “Soul Searching”

The Debate

Two Years Ago…

Director Leddow looked up from his PDA and closed the cover. He looked around the long, black polished table at the gathered scientists and security specialists. There were ten research scientists that worked on the report he’d just referenced, though only the most important scientists had been invited to meet with him today. It would do. The non-research present scientists included teachers, psychologists, and trainers — all people that worked directly with the test subjects. Continue reading “The Debate”
