At Uzec’s Temple of Aarith, Jocelyn and Typhon (Tiffanie) walked together in the garden. The trees leaves were brilliantly colored and the air nice and cool. Taking a bench together, Jocelyn looked at Typhon and said, “my friend, I believe an act of evil, hatred toward someone long, long gone has rebounded into an accidental good. A good I have prayed upon every day and every night since our discussion in the Temple
Apartment’s kitchen. The day you turned from temptation and took a different road. Now, after you told me what the His Holiness the Patriarch said to you in you initiation, everything makes sense. If it is your wish, we can ask the Bishop for permission to court.” Continue reading “From Friendship to Courtship”
Alms for Arresey
Emmeline had ridden out from Uzec shortly after the hobgoblin attack upon the hamlet of Arresey, not so far south of her own Cerisey. Baron had bid her help them rebuild by fairly distributing coin after the destructive raid had ruined much and slain five villagers as well. Each family would have enough to buy staples to hold them through the winter, repair any damage, and with money left over to cover any other losses. Continue reading “Alms for Arresey”
A Temptation
As Emmeline slept, a voice entered her dreams. It was similar to Mara, but not quite. “Twice you have sought us. Twice have we been of use to you,” the voice said. “Let us help you a third time so you may learn the true secrets. We offer them freely, just choose what you wish to unburden yourself from, or whom you wish bound by your will. We can help. We are there for you. Just ask, and you shall receive…” Continue reading “A Temptation”
The Wizards Tower
Two days after meeting with the Baron (See “Elemix Meets with the Baron Thread”), at the appointed time, Elemix met Master Stonesplitter. A tough old dwarf, he greeted Elemix at the city stables where they met. Elemix had the keys the Marshall gave him.
“You are the Magus, Elemix Dungaroon?” said the dwarf with a cheerful baritone voice. Continue reading “The Wizards Tower”
Letter to the group from Elemix
To: Lady Rivanon De Uzec, Witch Emmiline De Cerecy, & Sister Tifane of the Order of the Just.
I have been called to a Wizards Conclave in Derrian. It will likely take the better part of a week. As such, I do not wish to hold up your travels. Please proceed on to Portreaux and I shall meet you there at the Contessa estate as soon as I am able. I estimate travel there should take roughly 3 weeks so please look for my arrival in roughly 1 month. Continue reading “Letter to the group from Elemix”
About Thalassa
Geography
The island of Thalassa is fairly small and hilly island of approximately 220 square miles (or about 7 times the size of Manhattan). The hills in the north and south are separated by a wide high central valley which winds down to the City, while the plains of the south are fairly flat, save for a large lake, dropping down toward the sea. The island as one high point over 2000 ft, Mont Les Chaux, in the center of the island. The island was heavily wooded in ancient times. The upper valley, north shore, and the hills still have significant woodlands, while the lower valley, Karrack Point in the north, and the southern plain are farmland. Streams and small rivers are found all over the island. The City itself was built up on islands at the mouth of the largest river with a variety canals linking both the original islands and artificial islands built up over nearly 400 years. Letter from Contessa Adela de Portreaux
My Dear Daughter and Grandson,
I hope you are well and look forward to your visit. I am writing to inform you that I have arrived in Portreaux. I also have the most wonderful news. A former paramour of mine, whom I was finishing up some sad business with; has changed his tune and asked me to marry him after all these years of estrangement. As dowager Contessa, I must of course get my stepson’s permission, but I doubt that will be an issue. It is a wondrous day! When you arrive, I shall introduce you to Count Robert Valois-Dinan, a younger son of a sub-branch of the Dinan royal house, but regardless a good man whom I had thought was lost to me.
Until we meet again,
Your mother and grandmother,
Contessa Adela de Portreaux, soon to be
Contessa Adela de Valois-Dinan né Portreaux.

Fey Measures
The baron kissed Emmeline at her door, then turned and walked away. Some of his vassals had arrived and they had business to discuss. Baron’s Maîtresse had no place at his side when he had to conduct official court business, but he would have her there for dinner afterwards and that left her on her own for a little while.
She could tell Baron had been a little annoyed these vassals had dropped in with so little advance notice, but when she assured him that it didn’t count against the two days of private time she’d promised him, his mood lightened again. He’d have his two days regardless of unavoidable interruptions, and that arrangement made her just as happy as it did him.
With the baron’s attention elsewhere, she had an opportunity to address small household matters. Continue reading “Fey Measures”
Epilogue: Sessions 12 & 13
Overview
- From Thalassa, the party journeyed by ship to Breven. During the trip they were waylaid by seahags with intent to capture Emmeline at the very least.
- Surviving this, the party returned to Uzec where they were drawn into combat at Arresey where hobgoblins fleeing their defeat near Faou and foraging for supplies attacked the defenseless village.
- The party visited the Mother Tree’s Glade where Elemix conversed briefly with Mara, Rivanon heard nothing, and Jocelyn called in a favor.
- Some days later, following a lead, the party journeyed north of Calder Falls where they took on two goblin prisoners who led them to an abandoned temple of Hate.
- Here, Typhon Ne learned the nature of his/her path, Emmeline (and her family) were purged of an ancient curse, and Elemix effectively blew the temple up.
- Sister Typhon Ne and Sister Jocelyn speak to the Bishop and Jocelyn’s mother about courtship and marriage. They are sealed in the Bishop’s presence with a penance to wait to marry formally until Sister Typhon returns.
- Sister Jocelyn believes she is pregnant.
- Lady Rivanon d’Uzec departs on a mission of import for her father.
Well, I’m Fired. Welcome to the Family?
Your Highnesses, the King and Queen of Galadron,
In this letter I speak as your future daughter in law.
My mother, Mistress Remiriel, Regent of House Torduis has declared I will no longer represent House interests in the Kingdom of Galadron, citing a conflict of interest on my part beginning with my marriage and joining your house next month. She has instead named another daughter who is her direct heir, my sister Micareari, to be my successor. Mica has traveled with me as bodyguard and confidant and observed my tactics and methods for the better part of a year now. Although I expect she will do things differently than I, I think you will be satisfied that she will place the priority of the treaty and Trade Agreement between my mother’s and your realm as highly as I did. She is a priestess of the war college, very wise and highly capable. She has been given full control of my former embassy in Galadron. Continue reading “Well, I’m Fired. Welcome to the Family?”
