Session the Twenty Third

Oct 4
While Naya and everyone else went and talked with the Mayor and the High Elf that was directing the defensives, I kept an ear out for the next wave and tried to find out what the Manticore rider had been sowing.

When the next attack came it consisted of bluish Trolls carrying massive mauls, I think that they were Ice Trolls, some sort of Grimlocks, and some Nothic Gazers were with them. Kestrel climbed up a building and then jumped over to the roof of the gate house, eventually reaching the top of the wall. At the start of the fight two of the trolls made breach in the walls and the third went to make another breach with Kestrel following along top of the wall. Someone immobilized the first group of trolls. I shot and missed, then followed Kestrel to help contain the other breach. Magics were being fired all over the place by our friends, and suddenly a grimlock appeared out of nowhere and charged me. I kept missing it and I decided I really needed to focus. I looked over at the first breach and saw that one of the trolls was down and Rowe had dropped the hammer barrier, everyone ran through the wall except Trysten and Suulwin. Then I lost sight of them as I went to find Kestrel.

Session the Twenty Second

We fought 5 worgs and a large troll. That were trying to enter a burning farm house.
They weren’t much of a challenge using Naya’s brilliant tactics. The family was able to get out of the house and away before it burned.

The family told us of seeing shapes moving through forest edge toward the town. They said that they had waited to long and go cut off from the town and hoped to stay where they were and go unnoticed, but one of the children had gone to play near the forest edge and the worgs picked up its sent and followed him home. After thanking us for saving them they loaded what they had left and faded into the forest.

Session the Twenty First

After a short rest, the party noticed that despite the noise they had made earlier, no enemies – troll or otherwise – had began a counter attack or even sent a scouting party. Syrillia, wounded by the previous day’s efforts and suffering from and unknown disease contracted during the battle, went back to the cave entrance with Suulwyn to make their way back to the town and update the townsfolk on the progress . Naya decided that the rest of the party should soldier on. The first set of corridors leading out from their resting place emerged in a troglodyte egg chamber – beyond which was an entire room of troglodytes. After a pitched battle, the group stood victorious. Flush with confidence, they continued deeper into the troll caves searching for evidence of Skulmad, the Troll King. Session the Twentieth

The party continued through the swamp leading inevitably toward the realm of the Troll King. Suulwyn noted that this area had many old ruins, many of which would likely be occupied. However, the path the party took avoided these. Taking command at Rowe’s suggestion, Naya blazed through the difficult swamp with Lucien guiding and everyone from Trystan to Syrrillia helping as they could. Session the Nineteenth

Our guide pointed out the path that would take us to the Troll King and turned back to Bravak to help plan the defenses in case the trolls attacked.

An hour later we were bushwhacked by accusatory Drakith who were sure that Naya was a bad, bad girl. We fought them off but the leader escaped using a potion that granted double his speed.

As the swamp grew even wetter, the trees became mangroves and cypress. We were attacked there by shambling mounds and similar creatures that entangled and attacked us. We managed to fend them off, but were soon beset by another troop of Drakith who were hell-bent on killing us or at least slowing us down.

After that encounter, we were exhausted and rested for the night.

Session the Eighteenth

We go into the town to deliver the letter that Chance was to have delivered. Kelana Dhoram is the mayor and her letter was to be sent to Baron Perenon.

There we found Sulwyn, Syrelia, and Zayne. He escaped and they had defeated the undead woman who had enslaved Sulwyn.

Now reunited, we went to Mayor Kelana and told her what happened. It turns out that Chance was not her messenger — it was Peril (an unfortunate name indeed for a courier). Rowe volunteered their services to help the town and the Mayor gave us a script. The town would outfit their defenders.

After outfitting, we visited the Cloud Watch inn to speak with the Drakith survivor of the last mission the noble’s son made. Bax was found there. He was depressed about his friends’ demise but we convinced him to guide us out into the marsh.

On the way we were attacked by giant snakes and bog hags. But we were victorious! Except Rowe the Lucky got the poop pounded out of him again. But other than that, we win!

Session the Seventeenth

We took off after the kidnappers instead of escorting the caravan. Rowe assissted Kestra as she again led the group in tracking our quarry. We managed to lose them again but it was late so we set up camp and tried again the next day.

Lucain found Rowe after a narrow escape from his captors. These turn out to be different from the raiders that attacked the caravan and took off with Master Souk. We decided to go back to the caravan, having lost Souk’s trail in any case. We will then have an opportunity for Lucain to heal.

During the night Rowe was visited Primya and advised to attend to a mysterious problem in the Trollhaunt Warrens, wherein a Troll King was made impossible to kill. She gave me a direction and number of days to travel to get to the village of Moonstair.

We set out in the direction of the village and ran into a group of trolls, which we managed to dispatch with fiery powers. We met the trolls’ victim, a high daemon named Chance, who begged us to help him to Moonstair. We agreed and he provided a shortcut.

The shortcut was rather dangerous, leading us into a group of shambling mounts and electric trees, hedged with blade bushes. We were not impressed. Chance ran away and disappeared and we returned to the road after dispatching the foes.

We then continued to the small town of Moonstair…

Praxus Princess Part VIII

Oollana woke suddenly and sat up in bed and immediately wish she hadn’t. The pain was everywhere at once and caused an immediate shortness of breath but the pain eased after a few moments when the medical droid fed pain killers into her IV tube. The room was cold and she didn’t recognize it. From the seal over the door she guessed she was aboard the Praxus Princess. She closed her eyes and focused on her body locating all the specific points of pain so she could meditate on them.

As she mentally inventoried the various cuts and bruises on her body an electronic humming caught her attention and she opened her eyes to see where it was coming from. Several feet away on a bed similar to hers but surrounded by a portable incarceration chamber lay Darth Valar. He was unconscious with various medical droids working around him. He was in bad shape. The apparatus in place of his right arm reminded her of the ending of the fight she had with him.

Session the Sixteenth

Lucain was taken at the last moment by one of his captors and we followed him for two days before, on the third day, we lost his trail. Then we were ambushed by murderers and assassins who tried very, very hard to kill Rowe. Had he not healed like a madman, he would have been dead three times over. Ultimately, the Phoenix ring saved him.

They were defeated at a high price, but the murderers and assassin bore no particular papers to identify them, though the assassin bore the symbol of Syn. This in itself isn’t terribly surprising.

We encountered a caravan that was attacked. They suffered poison, first, and some of their number ran off. A Master Souk was also taken, apparently. He was the leader of a small town.

We agree to help the caravan to the small town they hail from and see a lady who will be very concerned over Master Souk, and from whom we may learn more.

In the meanwhile we questioned the people of the caravan. Aiy, we found out, poisoned people so her allies could take Souk. It was a sleeping poison. Also, three disappeared with Souk including Drent, Toyden, and Mika.

Tomtom was more of a fawning follower of Master Souk, but Rowe convinced him to provide us with some helpful information. He had been clubbed, then Drent, Toyden and Mika dragged Master Souk off into the woods.

Session the Fifteenth

Having driven off the vampiress and her minions the team took a moment to take stock of what she had in her mausoleum. There was a small bag with 103 platinum pieces, two potions of Vitality, suit of chainmail armor (Imposter’s Chain +4, AV46), and a pair of enchanted boots (Earthstriders, Lvl 14 AV128). Unsure who might use the chain yet (possibly Syreelia), we stored it. The Earthstrider boots were given to Rowe, one of the potions to Naya and the other to Trysten.

The money was split 4 ways — 25 platinum for Lucain, Naya, Sulwyn, and Rowe. Rowe is holding Sulwyn’s share. 3 platinum was left over for a “party fund”.

On our way back, we cannot locate Sulwyn and then we hear sounds of fighting! We set out to find out what’s happened. Unfortunately we find the remains of a Linked Portal! No clue as to where Sulwyn and his new vampire overlord went, though. Syrelia is pretty upset.
