Shadow Fate Session 7: VEM or Payden Delivers

{Four Months Roll off.}

A more diverse population is showing up at the club. The whole neutral ground thing seems to be doing good, on the downside VEM is getting more widely distributed. We are still investigating it trying to track down its source. Nero’s kindred more boldly displaying powers and the Duke has been getting into battles across the city. Also more transient’s and vagabonds appearing or being created. Weather this too is Neros’ doing or just the situation being taken advantage of I don’t know.

Warren had meeting with Duke about working more closely with ShaowGate.

Shadow Fate Session 6: VEM or Ayita cleans up

In the news feeds more reports of bloody deaths no one location or tie has so far been discovered with this new street drug.

Security has some concerns about a possible mage that has been staking out the club with a friend. Since our club is trying to become a neutral ground I think this is a good thing but told them to keep their eye on him.

We got home and everyone went to feed in their preferred manner.

I sent a text telling everyone that there were free memberships to the gun club if anyone wanted one. I also showed Warren and Logan the invite to the fight club that I got. Then we went back to the club.

Rose went to talk to the mage and while she was gone I spotted someone starting to have a seizure. I contacted security to escort them to the green room conference room. Lilah spotted a couple more. The security team and I sprang into action.  We got them all into the backroom and they started to present symptoms and Warren called 911.  I told Garrett and the rest of security to keep an eye out and make rounds now that they know what to look for, get them off the floor and call management and 911.

Warren disappeared while we waited for the ambulance.  He went to talk to the mage from Shadowgate. When he got back he told us what he had done so I didn’t call Cynder. I sent a text to Eric telling him that I was trying to contact Noir wanting Noir to investigate what I believe to be a magical drug. Warren needed to go do something so I told him that I would hang out at the club and take care of things.

Logan sent me a text that said one of my people was in the arena getting flayed alive. I called the others to see if they were safe. I started calculating my response. I was in my not happy place and coldly furious.   When the Lilah, Garrett, and Ayita I went to get my boys. Payden got in my way and wouldn’t let me go unless I took people with me. We got the rest of the Geek squad and moved them to the mansion. I was getting them settled in and Eric came and said we need you something was going wrong with Payden’s pregnancy. We needed to get her to a Dr.  We did and she is having twins. One of the fraternal twins, detached from the womb but with the Dr’s help were able to use vampiric healing to reattach it. That pretty much ended the excitement for the day.

Meanwhile, Warren got a call VEM – V vampire blood, E ecstasy, Meth is what is in the vial. He shared it with us and also slid in that he was thinking of working for ShadowGate.

Ayita found two waiting cleaning jobs. One went fine, as you can tell from that intro the other job had some complications. Reggie the Vampire, a low level hanger on, was found in torpor at the second site. He had drunk from some people on VEM and it didn’t seem to agree with him, because he bled out into torpor.

I pick up a donor, and drove to Ayita’s location. We took the Vampire home stored him in the hopes that he would wake up naturally. I told Ayita that if he didn’t pay her, I would. I called Eric so he could spread the warning about the drug and He told me to find the source and shut it down to which I replied, “Ok.” because we were already planning on doing it anyway.

Shadow Fate Session 5: A Windigo or Wendigo

We talked about what to do with the vial and it was suggested that we contact Noir and have him try and determine what the vial contained. The rest went to the club and I stayed home and got my money back.

[ At the club a group of tough looking people entered and went up to the balcony. Ayita asked about them and was told that they were just the investigators. She followed them anyway. Garret was told about a new policy of none of the wait staff going into the private room.]

Shadow Fate Session 4 Taking Back whats mine, Farewell to Cassie, or Lilah’s Adventure

When they woke up the next night I told the others that I might be busy for a couple of days. Some money had been stolen from me and I was planning on taking it back. Warren seemed to think it was a bad idea. But it seemed to me that it was a mark of disrespect and I wasn’t going to stand for it.

We revisited the topic of building a catapult or trebuchet, just in case we needed to get rid of more bodies and didn’t feel like going for a swim. Warren said he had other business to attend to and left. I think that it was his Deva side showing and he left because he thought we weren’t paying enough attention to him; perhaps I am being petty or snappish. I know I was distracted and feeling some stress. One, someone stole from me, and two, they did it by hacking my account. I have my pride, I know that sometimes it gets in the way of clear thinking but … no I won’t make excuses for how I am feeling or what I do.

ShadowFate Session 3 A Funeral, A Meeting, & New Housemates OR A GLAM life

We have now decided to Rename the AM-DM AREA  – Gran Lac  – Ames Metro  – GLAM.

Day time stuff – Cassie’s funeral was held.  It was huge. The band was, perhaps, more famous than we knew, people came in from all over.  There were security checks and Stephanie and Rose almost didn’t make it in, they had to present the house invitation. Then they were stopped at another check point for weapons, which they turned over. Stephanie got the names of the security firm.  Cassie’s brothers spoke at the funeral, as did many members of the school. She died of a heart attack before her time she will be missed. After the service they processed to the mausoleum in a horse drawn hearse to give the fans a chance to say goodbye. There was no mention of her husband.

When I awoke I got my usual updates and some of the information I has asked Stephanie to find Jameson security Inc. provided the security. The funeral arrangements were made by the Metric band Members: Genie, Jamie, Brandon, & Tyler.

THE EVENT was tonight. The Duke, Payden, and Shade were sitting in the entertainment room when I went through. Warren told me that he believes that Lilah is a spy.  Then Stephanie got my attention to let me know that 10% of my wealth has been taken.  I called in the Geek Squad and together they are tracking down where the money went who took it and how.

About ten I told everyone working with me to get ready for the meeting. I then told Stephanie to get Lilah ready to my level of appearance. When I came down. I told her she looked good.  Warren asked if I wanted to pray and I said I would like that. I figured every little bit of help would be a good thing tonight.  Warren told him that this would help him resist some powers.

Warren and Logan went early, Lilah and I followed after about ½ an hour later.  I noticed that the name of the club is now Loli. I bet Eric is just going to love that when he finds out. The staff is dressed in Lolita style clothing and all look quite young.

At midnight, the music stopped and the lights came up on a chair, “Welcome all my dolls, I hope you are all enjoying yourselfs…. I don’t hear anything. (I made the creak creak sound under my breath). Well then we will just have to up the entertainment and I see my favorite play thing. The spot light shown on Logan.  Loli kept talking and said something. I honestly stopped paying attention, other than to note that she sounded even more creepy and crazy the more she talked.  She asked who wanted to begin swearing fealty.  Again there was no rush to the stage and an intense hush fell over the room.

I started paying attention again when some random kindred, was strung up and whipped until he was bloody, the beating was stopped by the echo of the tapping of a cane on the stage.

Nero appeared and said the rules are simple. Do as I say. Don’t go against me. Don’t get in my way, otherwise do as you want you are vampires. There are those that work for me, those you will obey as if I were speaking.

The Duke appeared suddenly and openly challenged him.  Saying this was his town, and he was willing to fight for it, for one thing he knew how to do was fight.

Nero took the cowards way out and said he would favor any of those that took out the Duke.

Warren whispered Coward and Nero looked right at him, some of the Crowd took up the whisper some big hulk of a kindred yelled he is not a coward and tacked someone. I didn’t see who through the crowd.

The duke whipped some asps out of his sleeve and was tackled. Then was whisked from the building. I called for my car as a general melee broke out and worked my way out of the building.

I lost track of the others, Lilah stayed with me though. I texted Warren and he said we were meeting at the club.  When I got there I noticed, that things were ummm, more intimate, more sensual. I called Stephanie and had her bring us Casual Club clothes, meanwhile I got back to work tracking my missing funds which eventually lead me to Maliki, Imperious Inc.

I went down and informed the Duke that I had recorded Neros message. In case we wanted to have it delivered to Shadow Gate.  The Duke was in a mood. Ayita got the Duke something to drink. In hind sight I should have known and tried to sneak out sooner. It was a Z-Bomb. When I tried to sneak out, but the Duke told me to sit. Then ordered a round for the house. I motioned for the bartender to give me a small glass and things went sort of crazy, people were going to the private rooms, the Duke dragged one of Warren’s girls there. Ayita went sort of crazy on me, I tried to resist and finally I went with it and tried to make sure she had a good time so I bit her and she bit me back. I sort of lost track of everything around me after that. When the drink wore off and we headed home to talk bringing Ayita and Garret Wade to talk about joining our happy band.

We got home and went to the pool bar and talked about Paulo and Elizabeth.  Secrets were revealed which I am not going to write down because they are well secrets.

I used my power on Lilah and allowed Warren to ask if she was a spy. And she answered no that I am aware of.  All decided to live in the Mansion for now and were allowed to choose open rooms.

We adjourned to the pool.

I talked to Logan about getting revenge on the band. I am seriously put out about the way they handled the funeral of someone living in my home.  He told me to clear anything with him before I acted on it. Then I talked to Payden about it.

1 Skill point reward.

A Proposal in Shadow

Warren’s Journal

Despite numerous other things being on my mind mind of late, not the least of which was Nero’s power grab, Payden’s pregnancy, and the lust spirit riding Rose like she was a two-bit whore, I still keep an eye toward one of my longer-term goals.

Melvin and I had long planned for Club Trinity to be a social hub not just for vampire society, but for other supernatural groups as well. Call it a supernatural melting pot, a peaceful way for supers to mix without leading to trouble. Melvin and I have gone to some trouble to secure certain things to help assure a calm atmosphere at the club.

Now with Nero’s arrival, it’s a little harder to keep the peace. That meant I needed to step up my game. As manager of the club, I felt it was my job to make sure the place remained successful and continued to grow toward the goals that Melvin and I had established. War with Nero or no war, that meant I could not afford to back-burner those goals.

To that end, I spoke with Arcasian. Originally the vampire assigned to help us identify vampires of import at Club Trinity, Nero’s arrival had displaced his sire Caspian, the former Master of Elysium. That meant Caspian was now at Club Trinity doing what he does best. And Arcasian? I suspected he was feeling more than a little overshadowed by his sire and master moving in on his job.

So I asked if he would be open to learning something new, something his sire couldn’t teach him, that would make him invaluable to Club Trinity. He tried not to sound overly excited about it, but I could see it in his eyes. He needed something of his own. I knew I had his attention, so I laid out my idea. It was just an idea at this point, mind you, but I needed to be sure Arcasian would go for it should the opportunity arise. When I suggested it may be possible for me to arrange for him to learn the who’s who among non-vampire supernaturals, he seemed eager. I couldn’t give him any promises, but now that I knew he was interested I could see if I could make this happen.

That was in part what led me to this sterile meeting room far from windows in the heart of the office building that housed Ashton, Inc. Sighing, I ran a nail along the polished wood surface of the over-large table. No gunk. They took care of this place then. A careful sniff told me the the only scent in this place was the gentle, vinegar-based detergent they used on the table and chairs. Of course if there had been blood to smell in this room, vinegar would have removed that, too.

A glance at my watch confirmed what I already knew. Cinder was a half hour late. When the door opened suddenly I had to fight to avoid looking startled.

“Cinder,” I said as I stood. I extended a hand. He shook it.

“Warren. Been a while.”

I nodded. The last time we worked closely together was over twenty years ago. Cinder still looked the same, though. So did I. He’d impressed me when his team had worked with us on a case close to my heart. Payden had been in serious trouble. Kidnapped, brainwashed, and used to sell a sort of macabre sex video, her fate might have been very unpleasant and very permanent. Shadowgate came through for us, though. For her. Later we worked on other cases, problems where supernaturals not related to vampire-kind caused problems for everyone, such as that time when the Upiri came to town. Messy business. I can only hope that my allies and I had managed to impress Cinder and his people, too.

Over the course of two decades since then, I’d maintained contact. We remained the Duke’s liaison’s to Shadowgate and dealt with minor things. This was the first time I’d made contact with Cinder that wasn’t directly related to a current, serious problem.

“I appreciate you taking the time to speak with me tonight.” That was about as far as I felt like going with niceties. I didn’t like having my time wasted and I suspected Cinder was the same, so after he grabbed a seat across from me, I took a moment to think about how to get to the heart of the matter.

Cinder shrugged easily and slouched in his chair comfortably. “It’s usually important when you call.”

I nodded. “Important this time, but less urgent. You’re probably aware that we’d always planned for Club Trinity to be a neutral place for supernaturals to go to mix. Maybe even blend with other supers.” I made it a question.

He shrugged. “Yeah. Seemed like a good idea. Tricky, though, keeping the peace.”

I nodded. “But a challenge I’ve always been willing to take on. There are… prickly members of vampire society, and those who stand on tradition in terms of etiquette and various fine points of our own, introverted little society. To that end we were able to have someone familiar with these political intricacies assigned to work at the club, to recognize elders and nobles and to inform my staff, myself, and Mr. Alucard of any matters of etiquette involved with handling them safely.”

I paused to see if Cinder was following and if he noticed where I was going with. I think he did, but he waited for me to continue. “Of course, that helps with just one part of the equation. If I want Trinity to be an attractive and safe place for supers other than vampires to go, I need to be able to recognize them and provide them the kinds of comforts they would expect.” I knew that a few supernaturals did already visit the club, especially certain werewolves, but I suspected they were the adventurous minority. “That means I need to find someone willing to come to the club and help us identify other supernaturals and educate us on what is expected.”

Cinder looked at me suspiciously. “You want someone to come out there and pinpoint every supernatural that might wander into your club?”

I shook my head quickly. “No, that’s not at all what I’m after. I’d need someone who respects privacy. I value and respect privacy. Whoever could do the spotting would have to know the supers well enough to know who wants to be noticed and who doesn’t, who’s likely to cause trouble, who isn’t, and who can tell me what I need to know in order to keep Trinity safe for everyone.”

Cinder sat back and looked at me hard. I kept my face as open and honest as I knew how. Finally, he said, “No one person knows all that. Each group has its own secrets. You’d have to have the expertise of several people and most don’t give a damn about money. I don’t think you can afford what they’d ask for in exchange for monopolizing their nights.”

I let disappointment show on my face, but I wasn’t quite done yet. I’d anticipated that. After an acceptable pause, looking as if I was trying to work something out, I asked slowly, “Would there be people willing to teach someone to do it? Someone trustworthy?”

Cinder looked thoughtful at that. He inclined his head a little, conceding it might work. “Maybe. It’s pretty valuable information. Again, I don’t think you or your little group could afford it.”

“Why not?”

“Because they’d need favors and other things that vampires can’t provide.”

I wondered just what the hell that could be. I didn’t much care to be told I couldn’t do something, either.

Cinder held up a hand to stave off my temper. “Now don’t get upset. You wouldn’t give a mage a vial of your blood, would you?”

Surprised, I shook my head.

“And you wouldn’t give the Shadow Storm Pack Payden’s blood, would you?”

I stared at him. I had no idea what that was, but the word “pack” implied werewolves. Hell no I wouldn’t give a pack of wolves something that would let them track Payden down anywhere she might go. I shook my head more slowly.

Cinder continued. “I’m not saying that’s exactly what they’d ask for. But you’re asking for information that’s held pretty close to the chest of some of these groups. They’d consider it a pretty big deal, so they’ll be asking for something pretty big in exchange. You prepared to do that? Especially when the things they might ask for might be something you can’t provide yourself?”

I sighed. He had a point. “Damn,” I said softly. I don’t approve of swearing, but it slipped out.

“Now maybe there is something we can do. Maybe some young pups or novice mages or something looking to make a little extra cash. You could fill out job form and Ashton, Inc. might find someone to fit the role at a minimum. They might not be able to tell you everything you need to know, but it’s better than nothing, right?”

“Wait. What? What’s Ashton, Inc.?”

“The company that helps new, young, or down on their luck supers get a foothold in society. Get them a job, place to live, that sort of thing,” Cinder said. “Give them a chance at something human in their life. Help them stave off becoming a monster.”

“But… how did…”

“Ashton, Inc. is another side of Shadowgate, more or less. Not for mortals to know, but there you are.”

I nodded slowly. “I see. So you are saying put an ad out and maybe someone might fit partly what I’m looking for.” I wasn’t sure I wanted a some supernatural who might not even come to terms with what and who they were providing advice to me on how to treat other supernatural visitors at my club. Maybe better than nothing. Or maybe worse.

“Yeah. Or.”

“Or what?”

“Or Shadowgate takes care of the tab and we find a way for you to pay us back that you can live with.”

I thought about that. “How would you want me to repay you?”

“Before we get into that, I need to know a little bit about your man, the one that would be learning this stuff.”

I gave him the run-down on Arcasian along with assurances that Arcasian would be interested in this. He said he’d look into it and let me know.

But I didn’t want to end up owing some kind of open-ended favor to Shadowgate. “What’s this going to cost me?”

Cinder smiled at me. “Something you can afford. Shadowgate always has an eye out for a new agent.”

I stared at him.

“Someone trustworthy, willing to work for the common good of all supernaturals and mortals as well. One of your allies, perhaps. Of course, I have to run all this by some people first.”

I nodded a little numbly. I was trying to figure out who would take something like this on. What Cinder suggested meant this new agent would have to have loyalties tied to Shadowgate and their goals and that would have be go above and beyond loyalties to the Duke. It went without saying that loyalty to Shadowgate and its goals would have to override their own personal goals, too.

I reviewed my options, checking them off one by one. As I thought about it carefully, there were plenty of candidates. I thought about one of the wolves. Shayde was the most likely of them. She was used to leadership, was smart, and probably the most mature of them. She could pull it off. Payden might have been a good choice, but she would be a mother soon and that tended to change one’s priorities. As it should. Melvin? Logan? Each had their own agendas. Maybe they’d do it. Or maybe they’d chafe having to answer to someone, to work for someone else above them that wasn’t the Duke. Lilah? Garret? Ayita? Maybe. But each was either new to society or had been hiding in the shadows so long I couldn’t be sure they’d be able fill the role Shadowgate might have in mind.

I decided to check with Cinder. “What kind of agent are you talking about?”

“Agents usually bring something to the table. Something they are very good at, or maybe because they are close to something valuable. Problem solvers are most useful, of course.”

I had to admit most of my allies somehow managed to attract or create problems more often than solve them. Not entirely their fault, but there it was.

I mentally ticked off several other options. Nicolai and Paolo — fled the city when things got rough. Sonja left before things got rough and I knew she had her own agenda anyway. She’d never agree to work for someone else. My own Childe was with Sonja, so that ruled her out as well, though I’d be sorely tempted to throw that bitchy little bint under the Shadowgate truck any day. God forgive me, but it’s true.

Stephanie? Hell no. Rose? Possessed by a lust spirit, Rose is often not even in control of herself. They wouldn’t accept her.

I reviewed everyone I knew in my head again, carefully listing off pros and cons. Finally, I was left with just one option.

Cinder cleared his throat uncomfortably. I checked my watch. Damn. I’d been sitting there for twenty minutes. Vampires don’t breath unless we consciously remember to do it, and our hearts don’t beat. We don’t blink and we never itch. I had been still as a marble statue and completely unaware of the passage of time until I looked at my watch.

“Sorry,” I said. “But I think I have an answer to your offer. I know who might make the perfect agent.”

Cinder smiled. Now we could really begin to talk.

ShadowFate Session 2 introducing new characters and the monsters in the Lake or I want a cataplut

Shadow Fate Session 2.

Well we made it through another day which is always good. Stephanie told me that there was an armed guard stationed outside the guest’s quarters.  I reviewed last day’s tapes but didn’t see anything of note.

When I walked in the Kitchen area I heard Lilah say she was new made and had only been in the Ames area for a few months. I dismissed the security guard so we could talk more openly. But before we could talk more it was decided to move our operations to our Club.

I tapped into the Grape Vine and learned that: No word has been heard from Duke Victor Hecate or Eric Zeverand, Caspian has been seen in the Ames area at Trinity, (Caspian told me this as we were sitting in Trinity.)

I was introduced to a Kindred named Garret Wade.  Warren was going to interview him for a security position in the underground. Apparently he did well and Warren wanted me to run a background check and check out his references.

Glowing references for him. He checks out. Knows when to fight and when to intimidate.  Rides for the brand, dresses like a cowboy. Sort looks like Sam Elliot. Head Bouncer mostly moving on when the job was no longer interesting, He stayed the longest with a Vampire. I told Warren that he checked out and he was hired. I had a short talk with him and said that I might have some security work for him if he got bored with what he would be doing at the club and that if I like the security suggestions I would ask him to check over the security of my mansion, then I went to check on other things in the club.

While I was doing the background check Caspian told me that, Ayita, a kindred that normally doesn’t show up is here tonight. I think she is trying to find out what side to come down on.  I think Caspian went to talk to her but I made a mental note to try and talk to her later.

I was up in the viewing deck talking to Warren about something when the fight broke out. Fights are not normal here but our people have been trained how to react. Once of the dancers, I think it was that new girl Lilah tried to take some of the steam out of it she tried to draw attention to herself and mesmerize them. I saw a few of the those fighting stop to look at her get hit and keep on dancing. I guess that’s one way to break up a fight. I met Logan at the door that led to the main floor. He must have come up from Ashes while I came down from the balcony. I had his back as we pushed through the crowd. Fang was also pushing through the crowd when we got to the main combatants, it was a werewolf and a vampire. I know this because they were both starting to freak out. We hustled them back to the green room. Arcasion met us there and said that he didn’t recognize the vampire. I tried to ask the werewolf if he was ok and He said something in a growly language Fang translated it as something not nice. He then put the werewolf to sleep. We put him out in the alley.

I tried to question the Vampire but the young pup got snarky. I told Logan to take care of him just as Lilah walked into the room and asked if she could do anything.  I don’t think she is accustomed to violence. I don’t know what it says about me that I am. For a bit I felt really old and tired but I manned up and called Warren to see if he know the Vampire that Logan had just staked. Warren didn’t know him. When a quiet voice said I have seen him before, Neal meet him some times. Warren started questioning her and told that now was the time to come clean about things. He could tell she was holding back. He scared her so much she looked like a trapped animal. I looked into her eyes and told her to CALM DOWN. I reinforce this with my power and I think I calmed her too much. She went from frantic to almost catatonic. I think if she had been mortal I might have done damage. Warren was wiping blood from his hands I handed him a kerchief I think he got most of it. He talked to Lilah a while and got more of her story.  She told us that, indirectly she worked for Nero, and recognized the vampire as one of Neil’s associates.

Then Logan took the staked vampire to the lake where he was going to tie a cinder block to his feet and dump him in. He borrowed Warrens car to do this since he rode his bike to the club.

I feed and then went to the room of people that saw too much to adjust their memory.

Afterward I went to talk to Warren, about tomorrow.  The night wore down and we headed home.

Logan told me about Warren’s car being vandalized when the body was taken to the lake, tires were slashed, the stereo were taken, and even his Jesus bobble head was missing.  He apparently had also been attacked by something in the water.  The kindred, Ayita, was with him and came to his rescue or he to hers I am not sure but they both made it back alive. I must do something nice for her. Mental note I think we should build a trebuchet or catapult, after all what good is it being a rich geek if I can’t do rich geeky things.

Logan called home and Stephanie was a bad girl. She hung up on him. I will need to have harsh words and a harsher punishment. I must admit Logan impressed me that night. He offered to pay for the repairs to Warren’s car even after his nightmare of a night.

When we got home the Duke wanted to talk to us. We also talked about submitting or rebelling or bending kneed until we can arrange a counter Coue. The Duke announced he would be attending Nero’s little function which we are required to attend or be branded effectively outlaws, kill on sight by this new “emperor” of the AM-DM (Ames metro- Des Moines) area. We apparently, are going to bend knee and bide.

ShadowFate Session 1

ShadowFate Session 1

takes place after Session 43 of ShadowGate (Now playing using Fate rules.)

Duke, Eric, Noir, Dar? and Karon? are in the Mansion    Nickoli is now missing as are Paulo and Laticia/Elisabeth.

We got back in time to go to bed before sunrise and when we woke up that night we went to the kitchen and all got mugs of coffee,  it smelled great and  still tastes terrible. I think we were all in shock. Not from the coffee but from the events of the night before.

The Duke’s rescue, Cassandra’s kidnapping and death. It had been a full night.

The Duke, Eric, and Noir were staring in our direction. When I took the sip and made the yuck face. I wasn’t really paying attention to the conversation then Warren asked how soon they could be here.  I am assuming that he meant Nero and his goons.  The Duke said it depends on what they want.  I said I thought that Nero didn’t want to stay he wanted something else and probably made a deal with some of our former people to have control when he left.  The Duke said that we couldn’t guess that we had to know.   I said very well my Lord and called my security firm to up the manpower and on duty and start recruiting.

Payden said that she wanted to know our plans and said she wanted to go on record as being tired of cleaning up Paulo’s messes. As I went to make the phone call to my security firm. Stepahnie, intercepted me and told me that : half of Warrens girls didn’t make it home, the club was raided and so were several other places, Elysium was completely destroyed by fire, Nicolai’s holdings were devastated and she thought he might be staked, From what she could figure out ½ of kindred society had been eliminated or turned, and last an envelope with a wax seal addressed to M. Alucard and coterie had been delivered. As I started to dial she told me that she had contacted the security firm and told them to up the manpower on duty and start recruiting. I do have to note that during this conversation right after she told me about Nicolai disappearance. She embarrassed me by shouting about the gargoyles in Nicolai’s house. I actually had to slap her to get her to focus. She obviously isn’t getting the attention she needs. I must correct this.

I took the news and the envelope back into the kitchen

The note once opened said, “Your presence is commanded two days hence to present yourselves to your new emperor, failure to answer this summons indicates that you are in rebellion to your rightful Emperor and will be executed on sight. The address given is Eric’s club. The Duke asked if I was extending my hospitality and granted the Duke the right of my home and lands.  Then I am not sure how it happened but Warren took a knee and re-swore his allegiance to the Duke. I dropped to a knee next to him. The rest followed and we all swore fealty to the Duke. I would have liked to have been first but honestly the thought didn’t occur to me, still in such troubled time I guess such gestures are necessary. The meeting then adjourned. When I suggested that the Duke might like to see if Nicolai’s house would suit his needs for the nonce, since he didn’t seem to be using it. Noir said something about did someone say there were gargoyles there and he was off with the Duke and Eric following.

On a different note Payden is pregnant, I didn’t think our kind could get pregnant but I guess that shows what I know. I was wondering who the father is, I suspect Russell.

The Coterie decided to go to the club to see what was damaged in the raid. When we got there, the club was going through its normal opening routine.  It pays to have good people.

Warrens boy’s, Jack, Thomas, and Robert, said that about 15 kindred sought shelter and that they hid them. I am glad that Tom made it back. I will have to ask him about his adventure. (In ShadowGate session 43 Tom was separated from the rest of us.)

I went next store to the sheriff station to check on the hounds. Most of them stayed true to the Duke and most of those that didn’t paid the price.  I found Devon Sin and Caspian there. Kaspian started giving me lists. The first one was things the club would need to reopen. The second was a list of things he thought the station would need to be brought up to snuff and made livable and the third was a list of things we as a city would need to recover or replace that were lost in the holding and building that were destroyed or taken during the struggles.

I arranged for Kaspian to be housed elsewhere, fully expecting another list to appear eventually. When Kaspian asked if I knew where the Duke was staying I have him the house number for Nicolai. He left to talk to the Duke and look over his new digs.

The hounds looked relieved and one thanked me when I wadded up the second list and threw it away.

I hired a concierge to handle the third list, I hired him from the best hotel in the city. I handed the first list to Steph.

I was sitting in Warren office when I was told that there was someone that is looking for a care taker. I sent them to the green door on the side. Where I found an orphan looking pretty strung out.  I took her to Ashes then the underground and was talking to her trying to get her back ground.  She said her name was Lilah. I offered her a job and possibly a place to stay. We asked Rose to show her around the place and see what she would like to try, waitressing, bartending, or cage dancing.  When I passed by I saw her half naked and dancing in one of the cages she had drawn a very large crowd.  Warran brought her up to start filling in the paper work, for now she wanted to be paid under the table.  I offered her a place to stay for a night or two until we could find her something else.

Warren said he hoped that I knew what I was doing.  Letting an unknown vampire come into our haven.

There was something about her I don’t know what it was but I just shrugged and said friend close and all that.

I think I will try and get Nicolai holding back and hold them for him using them for the good of the city. I don’t think this war is going to be cheap.

ShadowGate Session 43 – WAR or rescuing Cassy oops

ShadowGate Session 43 September 29, 2012

The Duke, Eric, Warren, and Payden disappeared through the wall. Once he was in safty the rest of us fought to the door and through it and then Noir let the sunshine and put a force field and front of the door and my sire and her family went pouf along with Amanda Burns and her most important followers. Caspian and Devon were rallying the troops we followed Dar and Karon to them and started fighting our way out.

We got about of the second ring as a fresh wave of troops came in and someone I didn’t recognize along with some I did, Rene was back.   As we were going out I heard the librarian defending his domain. It wasn’t pleasant but we got out.  Devon was carrying Kaspian and he was not looking well.   Jack and Robert were with us we don’t know what happened to Tom. We decided to go home.  But all our cells had been damaged in the battle. Noir’s phone still worked and I called Stephanie and arranged a pick-up in the van. ShadowGate Session 42 – Payden is SICK?!? or You are my Sunshine.

ShadowGate Session 42 September 15, 2012

Warrren listened to her tummy. He had to try and shush her and us several times before he scrambled back saying  that it was a miracle and that is pregnant.  There was a small uproar that was quickly quieted and then I said I could arrange an ultra sound and Nic was talking to a sister Ellya, who is leader of the circle of the crone.

Warren and I went to feed and Payden and then they rest went to the zoo to help Nickoli with some ritual he was working on.

Eric was in the underground. He looked like he was in his cups and seemed upset and more than a little drunk. I called Warren and Payden.  Payden  said she was busy but Warren said he was on the way. He took care of Eric and I went to Elyssium to find out what was going on. I found out nothing so I went to Eric’s Club. We got there and found Noir sitting in Eric’s spot. Payden decided to find out why. He said Eric didn’t show up so he was sitting in for him.  He asked if we knew where Eric was and I countered with where are Karon or Dar.  I went to the bar looking around and asked for either. When I turned back around there was Dar. I told he where Eric was and he gathered a posse and when headed out. Continue reading “ShadowGate Session 42 – Payden is SICK?!? or You are my Sunshine.”
